Coast-to-coast medical transport moves a patient who can't safely fly or sit in a car across the country in a medical vehicle, bed to bed, with a trained professional on board and two rotating drivers so the trip never stops for the night. You'll also hear it called cross country medical transport; same service.
For most companies, a trip from one coast to the other is the exception. For us, the long trip is our normal. Our most spacious vans carry a real bed on a memory-foam mattress, oxygen, entertainment systems, and a seat and a bed for you, right beside them, across any of the 48 lower states.

Here's the problem with every do-it-yourself plan for a 2,800-mile trip: a driver has to sleep. So the trip stops. Motels, transfers in and out of a car seat, a fragile parent spending nights in unfamiliar beds, and one exhausted family member doing all the driving.

Florida to California, from the seat beside the bed
Florida. The van pulls away from a Florida driveway with your father settled into the bed and you in the seat next to him, with a bed to rest on. The Gulf coast slides past. He naps; you watch the country start to roll by the window.
Overnight. When it gets dark, nothing changes. The drivers rotate, the van keeps humming west, and he sleeps in the bed while the miles disappear behind him. You wake to sun coming up over open Texas highway; the attendant has already checked on him and kept his medications on schedule.
California. Desert, then mountains, then California: your father rested, you present for all of it, and nobody in your family white-knuckled a single mile. The team settles him into his new room and hands off exactly the way they picked him up: bed to bed.

If your loved one is critically ill and unstable, an air ambulance is the right call, and we'll tell you so on the phone.
