ACC MEDLINK is excited to announce the addition of the Stryker Power-LOAD lift system and accompanying Power-PRO XL cot to all our vans. This blog will outline the exciting features and benefits that this system will provide to those providing medical transport.
The Power-LOAD lift system contains a cot fastener which improves safety for both the operator and patient. It does this by supporting the cot for the entire loading and unloading process. This system is the first and only existing powered cot fastener.
The Power-LOAD lift system communicates wirelessly with Power-Pro cots, such as the Power-Pro XT. It also takes over the process of bringing the cot into and out of the van, so there is no need to steer it. By controlling the unloading process and supporting the cot until the wheels are safely on the ground, the Power-LOAD system minimizes patient drops.
This system also has an easy-to-use manual backup system, and the Power-LOAD system meets dynamic crash test standards, ensuring maximized occupant safety. The reduction in the spinal load that the Power-LOAD system provides also helps prevent additional trauma injuries to the patient.
The Power-LOAD lift system and the Power-Pro-XT stretcher work together to allow EMS personnel to raise, lower, load, and unload the cot at a simple touch of a button.
The Power-PRO XT cot is able to raise and lower at the touch of a button by utilizing a battery-powered hydraulic system.
It has head- and foot-end lift and grip sections, with the lifting handles optimized to 30 degrees. Stryker has found this to be the angle preferred by most operators. The cot also has foot-end controls on both the upper and lower lift bars, making it easier for operators to find a control panel that is easiest for them to reach.
The cot comes with fold-down side rails, which give patients a greater sense of security. Not only that, but the cot can be set to any load height necessary and also contains a jog function.
Finally, Power-PRO has a standard wheel lock that keeps the cot in place and ensures safer patient transfer.
Unfortunately, 1 in 4 EMS workers suffers a career-ending back injury within their first four years, with the number one cause being lifting. However, the Power-PRO XT cot takes away that risk by raising and lowering the cot for you.
Using a powered cot such as the Power-PRO XT for medical transportation may decrease compression forces by approximately 50% and shear forces by about 46% when compared to a manual cot.
By using the Power-LOAD and Power-PRO XL, Stryker guarantees that there will be a 50% reduction in cot-related injuries due to raising, lowering, loading, and unloading cots. Not only that, but they also guarantee that there will be a 100% reduction in missed safety hooks while unloading cots.
When choosing a medical transport service provider, you must ensure to choose one that not only focuses on getting you to your destination, but also prioritizes using the safest, most conducive, and most efficient sets of vehicle fleets and equipment to do the job.
